The Basics
I'm a licensed clinical psychologist, public speaker, trainer and consultant with over 20 years of experience in the field. My work is centered on science-backed strategies mixed in with creative, modern and lighthearted approach. I'm passionate about helping all of my clients crash through road blocks so that they, or their business, can reach their full potential.

I create a bespoke treatment for each client, centered on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure-Based Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (E/RP), and the parent-based treatment program SPACE. While I don't offer individual DBT treatment, I have been intensively trained in this method and infuse DBT skills into my therapy and consultations.

In my "day job," I head Lumate Academy, the training and education department of Lumate Health, where I offer thought leadership, public speaking engagements, and consultation to schools, universities and business organizations. I also co-host the "College Is Fine, Everything's Fine" Podcast with Dr. Liz Seidler, which highlights actionable skills for navigating common college stressors.

The Academic Stuff
My love of psychology began at Duke University, when I took Abnormal Psych and was convinced I had all of the disorders. Luckily, my professor had warned the class that this would happen. After I graduated, I went into book publishing, where I got to work with authors like Malcolm Gladwell, James Patterson, and Deepak Chopra. Loving that job as much as I did, I knew psychology was my passion. I received my doctoral degree from Boston University, where I was trained in the nationally-renowned Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders and participated in groundbreaking CBT efficacy studies. I interned at the Bellevue Hospital/NYU Child Study Center, and stayed at NYU for my postdoctoral training. I became an assistant professor at NYU and a staff psychologist at the NYU Child Study Center.  In 2014, I co-founded a boutique private practice with my dear friend and colleague, Dr. Sameena Groves, with offices in Manhattan, Westchester and Greenwich, CT.  During the pandemic, I realized I wanted to have a larger impact on the mental health crisis in teens and young adults. With Dr. Liz Seidler, I created the "College Is Fine, Everything's Fine" podcast to provide free access to therapeutic skills for college students. When asked to serve as the Head of Lumate Academy, which allows me to develop training and public education programs to a wider audience, I took the leap.  My first love will always be working individually with clients and helping them break through barriers to reach their goals, so I work with a limited number of committed clients in my private practice.
